The substituted phosphorus fluorides (CH3)2NPF2, (C2H5)2NPF2, and C5H10NPF2 (C5H10 = piperidyl) have been prepared by fluorinating the corresponding chlorides R2NPCl2 with SbF3 or a suspension of NaF in tetramethylene sulfone. These substituted phosphorus fluorides serve as interesting ligands which will displace CO from nickel and molybdenum carbonyls to give compounds of the type Ni(CO)2L2, NiL4, and Mo(CO)3L3 (L is any of the new fluorides).
