18228-17-6 Usage

General Description

Naphthol AS-E phosphate is a chemical compound commonly used as a substrate for the detection of alkaline phosphatase activity in biochemical assays. It is a phosphorylated derivative of naphthol and is often employed in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) to measure the presence and activity of alkaline phosphatase in biological samples. Naphthol AS-E phosphate is colorless and water-soluble, and upon hydrolysis by alkaline phosphatase, it produces a yellow product that can be measured spectrophotometrically. Its specificity for alkaline phosphatase makes it a valuable tool in diagnostic and research applications for studying enzyme activity, cell signaling, and various biochemical processes in biological systems.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 18228-17-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,8,2,2 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 18228-17:
(7*1)+(6*8)+(5*2)+(4*2)+(3*8)+(2*1)+(1*7)=106
106 % 10 = 6
So 18228-17-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Fluorescent substrates for potential use in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay of membrane-bound nucleic acids

Fujita, Satoshi,Momiyama, Masayoshi,Kondo, Yasumitsu,Kagiyama, Naoto,Hori, Samuel H.,Toru, Takeshi

, p. 1347 - 1353 (2007/10/02)

A number of phosphorylated fluorochromes were synthesized and tested for the alkaline phosphatase-linked fluorescence assay of membrane-bound nucleic acids. 3-Hydroxy-N-2′-biphenyl-2-naphthalenecarboxamide phosphate ester (HBNP) was found to be the most suitable for the assay. Nonfluorescent HBNP is hydrolyzed by phospholipase bound to the probe DNA to the highly fluorescent 3-hydroxy-N,2′-biphenyl-2-naphthalenecarboxamide (HBN). HBN is insoluble enough in aqueous medium to precipitate on the nylon membrane. Spots containing as little as 5 fg of λ DNA can be successfully detected on the membrane with HBNP.
