Description

Ethanesulfonic acid ethyl ester, also known as Ethyl Ethanesulfonate, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C4H10O3S. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water and has a slight, ethereal odor. Ethanesulfonic acid ethyl ester is characterized by its ability to participate in various chemical reactions, making it a versatile reagent in organic synthesis.

Uses

Used in Organic Synthesis:
Ethanesulfonic acid ethyl ester is used as a reactant in stereoselective Friedel-Crafts alkylation reactions. It serves as a valuable intermediate for the synthesis of various organic compounds, particularly those with specific stereochemical configurations. The ester's reactivity and stability make it a preferred choice for these types of reactions.
Used in Ionic Liquids Preparation:
Ethanesulfonic acid ethyl ester is also utilized in the preparation of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium alkanesulfonate ionic liquids. These ionic liquids are a class of salts that exist as liquids at relatively low temperatures and have unique properties, such as high thermal stability, low volatility, and excellent solvation capabilities. They are widely used in various applications, including catalysis, electrochemistry, and separation processes.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 1912-30-7 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,9,1 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1912-30:
(6*1)+(5*9)+(4*1)+(3*2)+(2*3)+(1*0)=67
67 % 10 = 7
So 1912-30-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Process for preparation of oxyglutaric acid ester derivatives

-

, (2008/06/13)

A process for preparing an oxyglutaric acid ester derivative of the formula: STR1 in which each of R1 and R2 is C1-5 alkoxy, C1-7 aralkyloxy, C7-9 halogenated aralkyloxy or phenyl, R4 is a hydroxyl-protecting group, and R5 is C1-10 alkyl which may have a substituent, comprises the steps of reacting a methyl phosphonate derivative or methyl phosphine oxide derivative with an oxyglutaric acid mono-ester to give a reaction product which comprises an oxyglutaric acid derivative having a phosphorus-containing group and a pentenedioic acid mono-ester (by-product), removing the pendenedioic acid mono-ester from the reaction product to isolate the oxyglutaric acid derivative, and converting the isolated oxyglutaric acid derivative into the oxyglutaric acid ester derivative. A process for obtaining an optically active oxyglutaric acid ester derivative is also disclosed.
