Description

Solanid-5-ene-3β,23β-diol is laevorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]18D-19.0° (c 0.63, CHCl3) and upon reduction, it yields a dihydro derivative with a melting point of 215°C. The dihydro derivative can further form an O,O-diacetate with a melting point of 222-3°C and a specific rotation of [α]D + 2.95° (CHCl3).
