25167-67-3 Usage

Description

Butene, also known as butylene, is an easily liquefied colorless gas with a boiling point ranging from 20.7 to 38°F. It is insoluble in water and has chemical properties that make it a colorless liquefied petroleum gas. Butene is soluble in most organic solvents but insoluble in water.

Uses

Used in the Petrochemical Industry:
Butene is used as a feedstock for the production of polymers and alkylate gasoline. It serves as a key component in the manufacturing of polybutenes and butadiene, which are essential for various industrial applications.
Used as an Intermediate in the Chemical Industry:
Butene is utilized as an intermediate for the production of C4 and C5 aldehydes, alcohols, and other derivatives. These derivatives find use in a wide range of chemical products and processes.
Used in the Production of Maleic Anhydride:
Butene is also used in the production of maleic anhydride through catalytic oxidation. Maleic anhydride is an important chemical intermediate used in the synthesis of various compounds, including unsaturated polyester resins, 1,4-butanediol, and fumaryl dichloride.

Air & Water Reactions

Highly flammable. Insoluble in water.

Reactivity Profile

butene may react vigorously with strong oxidizing agents. Easily ignited and burns well in air. Reacts exothermically with reducing agents to release gaseous hydrogen.

Hazard

Asphyxiant gas. Highly flammable, flammable limits in air 1.6–9.3% by volume. Dan- gerous fire and explosion risk.

Health Hazard

May act as an asphyxiant or slight anesthetic at high vapor concentrations. Vapor concentrations are not usually a hazard at room temperature except in enclosed spaces.

Fire Hazard

Behavior in Fire: Containers may explode in fire. Vapor is heavier than air and may travel long distance to a source of ignition and flash back.

Flammability and Explosibility

Extremelyflammable

Safety Profile

A simple asphyxlant. Very dangerous fire hazard when exposed to heat, flame, or oxidizers. To fight fire, stop flow of gas. Moderately explosive when exposed to flame. Mxtures with aluminum tetrahydroborate explode after an induction period. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and fumes.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 25167-67-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,5,1,6 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 25167-67:
(7*2)+(6*5)+(5*1)+(4*6)+(3*7)+(2*6)+(1*7)=113
113 % 10 = 3
So 25167-67-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
