Description
VERATROSINE is a glucoalkaloid that occurs with pseudojervine in Veratrum viride. It is a steroidal alkaloid obtained from Veratrum dahuricum and has displayed antitumor and anti-platelet activity, inhibiting the hedgehog pathway in NIH?/3T3 cells. The melting point of VERATROSINE is 276-8°C when obtained in an evacuated tube, and it is laevorotatory with [α]25D 53.0° (EtOH-CHCI3). Upon hydrolysis with boiling, dilute HCl, it furnishes P+)-glucose and Veratramine.
