It is a yellow crystalline solid that is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. 1,4-Naphthalenedione, 6-chloro- is commonly used as an intermediate in the production of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and other organic chemicals. It is also known for its versatile reactivity and is commonly used as a building block in organic synthesis. 6-chloro-1,4-naphthoquinone is considered to be a hazardous chemical and should be handled with caution due to its potential for causing skin and eye irritation, as well as being harmful if ingested or inhaled.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 56961-92-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,6,9,6 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 56961-92:
(7*5)+(6*6)+(5*9)+(4*6)+(3*1)+(2*9)+(1*2)=163
163 % 10 = 3
So 56961-92-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

A novel and convenient process for the selective oxidation of naphthalenes with hydrogen peroxide
Shi, Feng,Tse, Man Kin,Beller, Matthias
, p. 303 - 308 (2008/02/05)
A practical ruthenium phase-transfer catalyst (Ru-PTC) system for the oxidation of naphthalene derivatives has been developed. Substituted 1,4-quinones are obtained in good selectivity and yield in water without the addition of any organic solvent and acid. By applying the optimized conditions the feed additive menadione (vitamin K3) is obtained from 2-methylnaphthalene with 64 % yield and 73 % selectivity.
