66663-90-9 Usage
Description
Platycodin D2 is a less hemolytic saponin with immunomodulatory and anti-cancer properties. It can improve specific cellular and humoral responses to hepatitis B surface antigen in mice and exhibits significant inhibition on the proliferation of various human tumor cell lines.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Platycodin D2 is used as an immunomodulator for enhancing Th1 and Th2 immune responses, making it a potential candidate for the development of vaccines and immunotherapies.
Used in Anticancer Applications:
Platycodin D2 is used as an anti-cancer agent for its significant inhibitory effects on the proliferation of various human tumor cell lines, including lung, breast, and liver cancers. Its potential synergistic effects with conventional chemotherapeutic drugs could enhance chemo-sensitivity and improve therapeutic outcomes.
Used in Drug Delivery Systems:
To overcome limitations and improve the efficacy of Platycodin D2, novel drug delivery systems can be developed, employing organic and metallic nanoparticles as carriers for enhanced delivery, bioavailability, and therapeutic outcomes.
Biological Activity
Platycodin D2 is a saponin isolated from Platycodon grandiflorum, with anti-cancer activity.
in vitro
A novel triterpenoid saponin, deapioplatycoside Ewas isolated from the root extract of Platycodon grandiflorum, together with the seven known saponins 2 - 8, i. e., platycoside E, deapioplatycodin D3 , platycodin D3, polygalacin D2, Platycodin D2 , deapioplatycodin D and platycodin D. The structure of the new saponin 1 was determined on the basis of spectral analysis and chemical evidence.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 66663-90-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,6,6,6 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 66663-90:
(7*6)+(6*6)+(5*6)+(4*6)+(3*3)+(2*9)+(1*0)=159
159 % 10 = 9
So 66663-90-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Saponins from Roots of Platycodon grandiflorum. Part 2. Isolation and Structure of New Triterpene Glycosides
Ishii, Hiroshi,Tori, Kazuo,Tozyo, Takehiko,Yoshimura, Yohko
, p. 661 - 668 (2007/10/02)
Seventeen new saponins (2)-(18) have been isolated from the roots of Platycodon grandiflorum A.DC. and their structures determined by comparison of their 13C n.m.r. signals with those of known prosapogenins (19)-(26) and of the sugar chain at C-28 in platycodin-D (1).Eight of these saponins were found to have an O-acetyl group which migrated both readily and reversibly between the 2-O- and 3-O-positions of the rhamnose moiety in their sugar chain.
