68-39-3 Usage
Description
DL-Cycloserine, also known as 4-amino-3-isoxazolidinone, is a member of the oxazolidine class of compounds. It is an off-white solid with a unique chemical structure that features an isoxazolone ring substituted at position 4 by an amino group. DL-CYCLOSERINE has gained attention for its potential applications in various fields due to its distinct chemical properties.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
DL-Cycloserine is used as an antibacterial agent, specifically for its tuberculostatic properties. It is effective in treating tuberculosis, a bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. DL-CYCLOSERINE works by inhibiting cell wall synthesis in the bacteria, thereby preventing their growth and spread.
Additionally, DL-Cycloserine may have potential applications in other areas of the pharmaceutical industry, such as the development of new drugs targeting other bacterial infections or as a building block for the synthesis of novel compounds with therapeutic properties.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 68-39-3 includes 5 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 2 digits, 6 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 68-39:
(4*6)+(3*8)+(2*3)+(1*9)=63
63 % 10 = 3
So 68-39-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

D-Cycloserine (DCS), a second stage drug for the treatment of tuberculosis, is synthesized in 19.8% overall yield from DL-serine methyl ester. This synthetic route gives both enantiomers of cycloserine via a corrected and improved one pot resolution procedure using D- and L-tartaric acids. The route is used to synthesize a 13C-labeled derivative for use in biological studies.
