Usage

Description

Licorice extract, derived from the roots and rhizomes of Glycyrrhiza glabra, is a sweet-tasting and mildly fragrant natural extract. It is produced by extracting the comminuted roots and rhizomes with boiling water, followed by evaporation of the aqueous extract. The chief constituent of licorice root is glycyrrhizin, which is present in concentrations ranging from 5 to 24 percent depending on the variety of licorice used. Composition

In addition, licorice roots contain triterpene, flavonoids and B vitamins (Burdock, 1997).
