Description
DiMethyl Diglycolate, also known as dimethyl ester of dihydroxyadipic acid, is a chemical compound derived from the esterification of dimethyl and dihydroxyadipic acid. It is characterized by its ability to form unsaturated polyester resins and plasticizers, making it a versatile component in various industrial applications.
Uses
Used in Chemical Industry:
DiMethyl Diglycolate is used as a starting material for the production of unsaturated polyester resins. These resins are essential in the manufacturing of fiberglass-reinforced plastics, which are widely used in the construction, automotive, and marine industries due to their strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion.
Additionally, DiMethyl Diglycolate is used as a starting material for the synthesis of plasticizers. Plasticizers are additives that increase the flexibility and workability of plastics, making them suitable for a wide range of applications, such as in the production of films, coatings, and adhesives.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 7040-23-5 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 7,0,4 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 7040-23:
(6*7)+(5*0)+(4*4)+(3*0)+(2*2)+(1*3)=65
65 % 10 = 5
So 7040-23-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Carbonylation of formaldehyde with zeolite catalysts
Barri, Sami A. I.,Chadwick, David
, p. 749 - 753 (2011)
Carbonylation of formaldehyde with carbon monoxide over zeolite catalysts has been investigated. Compared with resins (Amberlyst-15 and Amberlyst-70), and phosphotungstic acid, the zeolite catalysts especially ZSM-5 showed very high selectivity to methyl glycolate. The selectivity of ZSM-5 was maintained to high temperature up to 200 °C.
