Description
N-(5-CHLORO-1H-BENZIMIDAZOL-2-YL)GUANIDINE, also known as guanfacine, is a chemical compound that functions as a medication for treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and hypertension. It is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, which means it influences specific chemicals in the brain and blood vessels to improve attention, reduce impulsivity and hyperactivity, and lower blood pressure by targeting certain receptors.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
N-(5-CHLORO-1H-BENZIMIDAZOL-2-YL)GUANIDINE is used as a therapeutic agent for managing ADHD and hypertension. It is effective in both children and adults, helping to improve attention span, decrease impulsivity and hyperactivity, and reduce blood pressure. The medication is available in various forms, such as tablets and extended-release tablets, and is typically administered orally. It is generally well-tolerated, with potential side effects including drowsiness, dizziness, and dry mouth.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 70590-32-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,0,5,9 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 70590-32:
(7*7)+(6*0)+(5*5)+(4*9)+(3*0)+(2*3)+(1*2)=118
118 % 10 = 8
So 70590-32-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Method of inhibiting the advanced glycosylation of proteins using 1,2-disubstituted-benzimidazoles
-
, (2008/06/13)
The present invention relates to compositions and methods for inhibiting nonenzymatic cross-linking (protein aging). Accordingly, composition is disclosed which comprises 1,2-disubstituted benzimidazoles capable of inhibiting the formation of advanced glycosylation endproducts of target proteins by reacting with the carbonyl moiety of the early glycosylation product of such target proteins formed by their initial glycosylation. The method comprises contacting the target protein with the composition. Both industrial and therapeutic applications for the invention are envisioned, as food spoilage and animal protein aging can be treated.
