PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of producing a high purity tertiary amine having an ester group in a high yield, a quaternary ammonium salt composition obtained by quaternizing the tertiary amine, and a bleaching composition excellent in bleaching properties which contains the quaternary ammonium salt composition. SOLUTION: The method for producing the tertiary amine having an ester group represented by formula (3) (wherein R1 and R2 are each a 1-3C alkyl group or a hydroxyalkyl group; R3 is a 2-3C alkylene group; and R4 is a 7-21C alkyl group or an alkenyl group) by reacting an amino alcohol having a boiling point of ≤200°C with a fatty acid or its lower alkyl ester comprises dividedly feeding the amino alcohol. The quaternary ammonium salt composition is obtained by quaternizing the tertiary amine produced by this method with a dialkyl sulfate. The bleaching agent composition comprises this quaternary ammonium salt composition.
