Description

ELEMI GUM is a resinous exudate obtained from the tree Canarium commune L. or Canarium luzonicum Mig (Fam. Burseraceae). It is a pathological exudation that flows from incisions made on the trunk bark, and it is collected during the rainy season when the tree's leaves appear. The gum-resin is a soft, yellowish-white mass that hardens to a wax-like consistency upon exposure to air. ELEMI GUM has a characteristic green, fresh, lemon-like, agreeable, and balsamic odor.
