93-42-5 Usage
Description
THIONALIDE is a chemical reagent known for its ability to react with various metal ions to form chelate complexes that are sparingly soluble in water. This property allows for selective precipitation of certain metal ions based on the stability of the complexes formed and the conditions used, such as pH and the presence of masking agents.
Uses
Used in Analytical Chemistry:
THIONALIDE is used as a reagent for the selective precipitation and analysis of metal ions such as copper, mercury, silver, thallium, and bismuth. The selectivity of the precipitation reaction can be increased by adjusting the pH of the solution and using suitable masking agents.
1. THIONALIDE is used as a precipitating agent for metal ions like copper(II), silver(I), mercury(II), bismuth(III), arsenic(III), tin(IV), gold(I), platinum(IV), and palladium(II) in acidic media (mineral acids) for selective precipitation.
2. THIONALIDE is used as a precipitating agent for copper(II), mercury(II), cadmium(II), thallium(I), and gold(I) complexes from alkaline solutions containing tartrate.
3. THIONALIDE is used as a precipitating agent for thallium(I), antimony(III), and bismuth(III) complexes from solutions containing cyanide and tartrate.
4. THIONALIDE is used as a precipitating agent for the thallium(I) complex from alkaline (sodium hydroxide) solution containing cyanide and tartrate.
The analytical application of THIONALIDE is further enhanced by the stoichiometric composition of its metal complexes, which can be dried at 105-110°C and weighed directly. Additionally, THIONALIDE can be utilized in volumetric analytical procedures, where its content, equivalent to the metal to be determined, can be titrated iodometrically according to the given equation.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 93-42-5 includes 5 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 2 digits, 9 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 93-42:
(4*9)+(3*3)+(2*4)+(1*2)=55
55 % 10 = 5
So 93-42-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
