Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 98138-26-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 9,8,1,3 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 98138-26:
(7*9)+(6*8)+(5*1)+(4*3)+(3*8)+(2*2)+(1*6)=162
162 % 10 = 2
So 98138-26-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Pentanuclear Complex Formation between 3-(Dimethylamino)propanamidoxime and Copper(II) in Aqueous Solution

Orama, Marjatta,Saarinen, Heikki,Korvenranta, Jorma,Raikas, Tuovi

, p. 1083 - 1086 (2007/10/02)

The complex formation equilibria of copper(II) with 3-(dimethylamino)propanamidoxine (HL) were studied in aqueous 1.0 M NaCl at 25 deg C by a potentiometric method.Experimental data were analyzed with respect to the possible complexes and their stability constants, using the least-squares computer program SUPERQUAD.The best model was that which included the mononuclear complex Cu(HL)2+ and the hydrolyzed pentanuclear species (Cu2+)5(HL)4H-73+ and (Cu2+)8(HL)4H-82+.From a comparison of the compositions of the complexes in the aqueous and solid phases it is concluded that deprotonation of the aqueous complexes originates from the coordinated oxime and amide groups, and that the most probable formula of the major pentanuclear species, 2+)5(HL)4H-82+, should be written as 2+ rather than in the form of a mixed hydroxo complex.
