Scheme 5 Proposed mechanism.
In conclusion, we developed a direct approach for the C5–H bond
functionalisation of 2-amino pyrimidines. This method exhibited a
broad scope and showed good tolerance with various aryl halides
and olefins. Controlled experiments and mechanistic findings
indicated the involvement of electrophilic palladation as the key
step for the C–H bond functionalisation of the electron-deficient
heteroarene.
