THF with 5% water (commercial 1 m solution from Sigma–Aldrich
already contains 5% water, 8.5 mL) was added to peracetylated ri-
bonucleoside 2a–11a) (1 mmol), and the mixture was left to stir for
16 h. To this solution, methanol (11 mL), Dowex 50WX8-400
(4.7 g), and calcium carbonate (1.9 g) were added, and the mixture
was left to stir for 1 h, which was followed by filtration of the re-
sultant slurry through Celite.[ The filtrate was concentrated and
subjected to purification by flash column chromatography or semi-
preparative reverse-phase HPLC.
