1798-12-5 Usage
Description
[2-(acetylamino)phenoxy]acetic acid is a synthetic organic compound that belongs to the family of phenoxy herbicides. It is characterized by the presence of an acetylamino group attached to the phenyl ring, derived from phenoxyacetic acid. [2-(acetylamino)phenoxy]acetic acid is known for its potential use as a herbicide, functioning by mimicking the plant growth hormone auxin, which leads to uncontrollable plant growth and ultimately, plant death. Due to its agricultural and environmental applications, [2-(acetylamino)phenoxy]acetic acid is a subject of interest and is regulated in many regions to address potential environmental and health concerns.
Uses
Used in Agricultural Applications:
[2-(acetylamino)phenoxy]acetic acid is used as a herbicide for controlling broadleaf weeds and woody plants. Its application reason is based on its ability to mimic the plant growth hormone auxin, causing the targeted plants to grow uncontrollably and eventually die.
Used in Environmental Applications:
In the environmental sector, [2-(acetylamino)phenoxy]acetic acid is utilized for its potential to manage and control the growth of unwanted vegetation, particularly in areas where such growth could lead to ecological imbalances or harm. The application reason is to maintain a balanced ecosystem and prevent the overgrowth of certain plant species that could negatively impact the environment.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 1798-12-5 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,7,9 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1798-12:
(6*1)+(5*7)+(4*9)+(3*8)+(2*1)+(1*2)=105
105 % 10 = 5
So 1798-12-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

supporting information, p. 5601 - 5603 (2015/11/17)
Herein we report a new way to identify chemical elicitors that induce resistance in rice to herbivores. Using this method, by quantifying the induction of chemicals for GUS activity in a specific screening system that we established previously, 5 candidate elicitors were selected from the 29 designed and synthesized phenoxyalkanoic acid derivatives. Bioassays confirmed that these candidate elicitors could induce plant defense and then repel feeding of white-backed planthopper Sogatella furcifera.
