Description
Fuchsin Acid, also known as Acid Magenta, is a red, acid dye belonging to the triphenylmethane series. It consists of the sodium salts of the sulphonic acids of basic fuchsin or individual dyes such as pararosaniline, rosaniline, and new fuchsin. Fuchsin Acid is a dark green crystalline powder that is mainly used as a diachrome and works as a pH indicator.
Uses
1. Used in Biotechnology:
Fuchsin Acid is used as a biological stain for various applications in biological microtechnique, with around two hundred applications described by Gray (1954).
2. Used in Histology:
Fuchsin Acid forms complexes with light green SF (yellowish), which are useful in clinical pathology as a differential stain for proteins in electrophoresis.
3. Used as a pH Indicator:
Fuchsin Acid is decolorized in solution by the addition of NaOH and is used as an indicator (known as Andrade's indicator) in bacteriology for detecting acid-forming organisms.
4. Used in Tissue Staining:
Acid Fuchsin sodium salt is used in tissue sections for Masson's trichrome staining, where it helps distinguish muscle from collagen.
5. Used in Insect Research:
Acid Fuchsin has been used as a marker to trace the ingestion of solutions by green peach aphids.
6. Industrial Applications:
Fuchsin Acid is used in the coloring of crepe tissues, soap, and photographic films, as well as the dyeing of leather, which it penetrates easily.
7. Fastness Properties:
Fuchsin Acid has been tested for various fastness properties, including light fastness, soaping, perspiration fastness, oxygen bleaching, and fastness to seawater, with ratings provided in the ISO and AATCC standards.

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 3244-88-0 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 3,2,4 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 3244-88:
(6*3)+(5*2)+(4*4)+(3*4)+(2*8)+(1*8)=80
80 % 10 = 0
So 3244-88-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
