7783-03-1 Usage
Description
Tungstic acid, also known as tungsten trioxide or wolframic acid, is a chemical compound with the formula H2WO4. It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and exhibits acidic properties. Tungstic acid is an important precursor for the production of various tungsten compounds and materials, and it has a wide range of applications across different industries.
Uses
Used in Metal and Compound Production:
Tungstic acid is used as a starting material for preparing tungsten metal and many tungsten compounds. It plays a crucial role in the production of high-performance materials with unique properties, such as superalloys, catalysts, and electronic components.
Used in Textile Industry:
Tungstic acid is used as a mordant for textiles. A mordant is a substance that helps to fix dyes to fibers, improving the colorfastness and durability of dyed fabrics. Tungstic acid enhances the bonding between the dye and the fiber, resulting in more vibrant and long-lasting colors.
Used in Synthesis of Advanced Materials:
Tungstic acid is used as a starting material in the synthesis of polynanocomposite materials and polycrystalline ceramics. These advanced materials exhibit superior mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties, making them suitable for various high-performance applications, such as aerospace, electronics, and automotive industries.
Preparation
Tungstic acid is obtained as an intermediate in the recovery of tungsten from its minerals, scheelite and wolframite (See Tungsten). Also, the tungstic acid may be prepared by heating sodium tungstate with sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid:
Na2WO4 + 2HCl → H2WO4 + 2NaCl
Na2WO4 + H2SO4 → H2WO4 + Na2SO4

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 7783-03-1 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 7,7,8 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 7783-03:
(6*7)+(5*7)+(4*8)+(3*3)+(2*0)+(1*3)=121
121 % 10 = 1
So 7783-03-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
