1. The brief introduction of saxagliptin
Saxagliptin (CAS NO. 361442-04-8) whose chemical name is (1S,3S,5S)-2-[(2S)-2-Amino-2-(3-hydroxytricyclo-[3.3.1.13,7]dec-1-yl)acetyl]-2-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane-3-carbonitrile, monohydrate is a potent and selective reversible inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase-4, which is being developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Its IUPAC Name is (1S,3S,5S)-2-((2S)-2-amino-2-(3-hydroxyadamantan-1-yl)acetyl)-2-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane-3-carbonitrile hydrate. Onglyza would be the trade name after the FDA approved Saxagliptin with brand name Onglyza on July 31, 2009. So sometimes some people call it "saxagliptin onglyza" or even "BMS 477118".
